3D Scanning
Sampler of Various Projects
The following are examples from where I have used 3D scanning in various forms, and in different stages of design projects.
These utilize a range of physical and software techniques, including but not limited to: hand-held laser scanners, photogrammetry with still and drone-based cameras, MetaShape, MeshRoom.
Drone-based Photogrammetry
For the Baja Winery, we were working with a very unique and complex landscape, with no easy means of physically surveying the site. Using Drone Deploy and a DJI drone, I plotted scans over 4 different sites, providing GPS-verified data and 3D models to the rest of the class.
Rapid Modeling and Visualization
This example from the Funerary Barge project utilized a handheld laser scanner to rapidly transfer spontaneous and hand crafted models into digital space.
Object Photogrammetry
Using a fork of a digital turntable, I developed an arduino controller and camera trigger system to automate the capture of images for photogrammetry. The photos were then processed in Meshroom and Metashape. The repo of the turntable may be found here.
High Precision BIM Site
Here, I worked with high precision scans from ODEH Engineers to create concept and development models in Revit for 1142 Chapel St, New Haven. This work was done whilst I was an architectural designer at Gray Organschi.
